    1. I do not usually read poetry because I usually don’t understand it. I usually find myself reading an entire poem while digesting only a fraction of the words and often none of the meaning or symbolism. The Highs, the Lows, the In-Betweens, however, is a great book of poems for someone like me. Each poem’s meaning is clear and relatable. My brow never had to furrow, trying to figure out what she was trying to convey. Instead, I was filled with a sense of global community. Osei-Tutu and I come [...]

    2. I came across this collection of poems by pure accident, via a free download. I am not normally a fan of poetry and often find the format does not speak to me. I was however intrigued by the introduction in which Sarwah Osei-Tutu sets our expectations for the joys to come. The poems deal with her own experiences as girl, woman and mother and are brief insights or reflections on the topics of her life: men, children, friends, summer and the gym. Witty and often full of depth she lets us into her w [...]

    3. Typically, I don't read too much poetry, but from the first word, Sarwah had me roped in! I've never related to poetry this much before. As I read these poems, I felt as though these things were a part of my life and that I was experiencing them through a mother's eyes. The style is so relatable and I just loved how Sarwah's emotions were laid out on the pages like that. Vulnerable, happy, depressed, excited All of those emotions became real because of the author's ability and willingness to let [...]

    4. I've never read a poetry book that touched me on a personal level like this one did. I loved it, not only because I can relate to so many of the same troubles in my own life, but because the author gave me such a brave and intimate view into what made her the woman she is today. This inspiring book is a must read.

    6. Through The Highs, the lows, and The Inbetweens, Sarwah shares her experiences, both good and bad. When you read her poetry you will find out just how much alike we all are.
