    1. I was drawn to this book based on the time setting. I'm a sucker for history. I felt it was okay for authenticity as culture relates to it. Some of it was flimsy and I could tell that no research was done to make dialogue and events believable for the time.The book started slow but of course picked up and it somehow turned into a comedy for me. I love history and I love old Black movies. This book had many likenesses to some of the classics, to the point that I wondered if the author just got do [...]


    2. Terrible.The lack of an editor was unbelievable. Grammatical errors galore and didn't know the difference between the use of their and there. Many too detailed sentences could have been combined. I can't believe other reviewers didn't comment on this. Also, I read for enjoyment and entertainment----if I want details about all sorts of abuse, I'll listen to the 6:00/10:00 news.


    3. Great bookAwesome page turning book! Took place during the 40s when there was still racism. Her hard fought life with children, drinking, molestation, and death.
