    1. I’m always a little nervous to read a book by an author I’ve never read by before, but I could have saved my fretting when it came to Love’s Rescue by Christine Johnson. This book was perfectly lovely! ^_^ And yet deep. Poignant. Heart-wrenching, but soul-touching. It was such a beautiful tale with not only a meaningful and “true love” sort of romance, but also a noticeable theme of faith. All my fears were for naught! *grins* I have another wonderful book to add to my bookshelf, and a [...]

    2. What a delightful story! This book pretty much has it all – danger, a manipulating family, a forbidden romance, intrigue, secrets, and more. Love’s Rescue is full of complex characters and difficult situations.I really connected with Elizabeth and Rourke, wanting their love to be possible, even though the odds seemed against them. They were both very likeable characters. Elizabeth had some growing up to do and she had to learn to stand her ground against overbearing family members. But I fel [...]

    3. I loved this story! The book itself is beautiful (usually Bethany House is my favorite designer of gorgeous books, but Revell did an outstanding job with designing this one's much prettier in hard copy). I am guilty of buying this book because the cover was so pretty, which does not happen to me often.Once I got past the front cover, there's a wonderful story inside. Elizabeth returns home after her mother's death to a home life that could easily tip over into her misery, since her family is ver [...]

    4. This book may look pretty on the outside, but hold onto your seat! You won't have a minute to breath from the first page to the last!! Elizabeth is heading back home to Key West and is ready to face life as it is now. Her mother just died, her father expects her to marry a man she can't stand to be around, and her brother is crippled because of a whim she had that put them in danger. All this while she holds onto her love for Rourke, a Godly and gentlemanly captain that she has loved for years.T [...]

    5. Reviewed at The Power of Words: bit/1AVzuh3Christine Johnson has published stories in the Love Inspired line before, but I believe Love's Rescue is her first full-length novel and I have to say that she has given us a very interesting story. There's a lot to like here - adventure on the seas, strong family dynamics, star-crossed lovers, and the vivid setting of Key West in 1850. I also loved the way themes of secrets, guilt, and unfaithfulness are contrasted with grace and forgiveness. One of th [...]

    6. Heroine Elizabeth is a likable character. She is fallible yet redeems herself.Overall, the story was a good one. The flow seemed a bit off to me though. At times, I was completely engaged and others not as much. Some parts of the story seemed a bit unrealistic.

    7. After twisting the truth a bit to get what she wanted/needed Elizabeth Benjamin probably shouldn't have expected a happy welcome from her semi-cold father. But Elizabeth will do what Elizabeth wants and now she is stuck in a most difficult situation. As she is forced further into a future marriage to a dull and obnoxious man Elizabeth gets more than she bargained for. Torn between duty and love, while trying to turn up the truth behind a mystery that her to-be fiancee is some how tied in to, Eli [...]

    8. When Elizabeth Benjamin learns of her mother's death, she sets sail at once for her home on Key West. There she hopes to make things right with the brother she hurt four years prior. Her journey home isn't easy. First her ship wrecks and she is rescued by Rourke O'Malley, the man she has loved for years. Then her father wants to marry her off. And her brother won't have anything to do with her. Just when Elizabeth feels completely alone, she discovers her mother's diary. As long held secrets com [...]

    9. First, I want to thank the author for the complimentary copy of this book! This is a great historical book. It is set in the beautiful Florida Keys in the 1850s.I love the characters and the beautiful love story between Elizabeth and Rourke. Throughout the book I could very easily relate to these wonderful character and kept wondering what I'd do if I'd be in their situation. This book also deals with some difficult issues and keeps you wondering if the characters will get their happy ending unti [...]

    10. This was my first time reading Christine Johnson and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can't really explain it but I felt the romance was some-what secondary to the story line and I so appreciated that. It's not fluffy or to syrupy just a nice blend of historical attributes and crashing waves off the keys. Anabelle was a interesting side character and I never would have guessed her importance!! There is a slight mystery and a irritating aunt you will bid good ridance to at the end. I will certainly pic [...]

    11. Too contrived. Why would you verbally give a message to someone to verbally convey to someone else who must then verbally convey it to a final party when in reality the person you want to receive the message (and it must be received exactly) is the third person in your little game of "Telephone?" And when the obvious problem with this scenario occurs, how then does it work out alright in the end, with almost everyone showing up where they need to be when they need to be there? The sense of urgenc [...]

    12. What a wonderful story!!!!!!Yes, if you like historical romance then I would definitely recommend it. Christine Johnson takes the reader to Key West, Florida during the mid 1800's and give them a glimpse of the unrest in the area experienced while trying to rebuild after a hurricane struck 4 years earlier. We are introduced to Elizabeth Benjamin and Rourke O'Malley. 4 years ago Elizabeth made a rash decision that could have cost her not only her life, but also that of her brother, Charlie, if no [...]

    13. New Series Keys of Promise, Book #1"Love's Rescue" by Christine JohnsonThis author really pulls at the heart strings as we read the pages of this story. Elizabeth Benjamin is a wonderful character with desires that she is not sure will come true. Time is slipping away and she wonders if her time has already came and gone.Secrets abound in the family that she never knew and she is half afraid to find outHer mother left a diary and reading the pages leaks things she never knew.Elizabeth feels guil [...]

    14. This book wove betrayal, secrets, romance, and faith into a beautiful story. I loved many aspects of this story, but most importantly, I loved the writing style Johnson used. Her writing was simple and understandable, yet poignant and beautiful.I empathized with Elizabeth as far as not knowing which way to go, but knowing what your heart wants. I’m going through that now, and that aspect of the story really hit home with me.The mystery kept me guessing at some points, and I really enjoyed that [...]

    15. It has been a really long time since I've read a Christian romance that had such a breath-taking beginning. The 19th century seas are certainly the perfect place to start a novel if you want to capture this reader's attention and Ms. Johnson did! While this story as a romance fizzled, as a historical fiction, I enjoyed it. The chemistry between Rourke and Elizabeth was sadly lacking. Maybe it was just the author's style of aiming for a sweet romance that didn't really connect with me as a reader [...]

    16. Wow, this was a really fascinating read! I liked the portrayal of the characters; Rouke was dashing, kind, honest and loyal-Elizabeth was a little frustrating, as I chaffed inside at how under her aunts domineering thumb she was-but I felt her character truly changed and strengthened. Charlie my goodness, I loved Charlie! He was such a lovable brother. There should have been more of him!:) Annabelle I must say, I felt like she was a little selfish. Yes, Elizabeth should have had more guts to sta [...]

    17. LOVE'S RESCUE is Ms. Johnson's first book in her Keys of Promise series. At first I wasn't real sure what to think of it, as Elizabeth is a lady of means and being paraded among eligible bachelors to find an approved husband. Translation, a man of means who she doesn't love. When Elizabeth's father's clerk pays attention to her, her father is thrilled. After all this man owns a plantation even though he works as a clerk. Fantastic. Except Elizabeth loves another. A man who owns a wrecker busines [...]

    18. What an incredible book with twists and turns and surprises I never saw coming. I really enjoyed this first book in a new series by Christine Johnson. Very well written. There is a lot of action in this book. I felt like I was right there in the midst of the storms, the shipwreck, and even the run through the cemetery. The characters in the story were well developed. I loved seeing how Charlie changed, the relationship between John and Anabelle, and even how Elizabeth and her father were able to [...]

    19. All good things comes to those who waitWow! What an amazing story! Redemption is key to this whole story. God and ours! This is the first book I've read by Christine Johnson, she's penned a lovely and adventurous story of love hope, and forgiveness. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

    20. I really liked this book. I liked the setting: Key West is it's own special place today as it must have been nearly 200 years ago. I liked the characters (well, most of them). And I liked the plot with it's little bits of romance, mystery, and danger. I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series. Full disclosure--I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

    21. 4.5 starsA great historical romance set in the Florida keys, with a lesson of forgiveness, wreckers, bringing slaves to freedom, unwanted suitors, painful discoveries, and a sweet romance. <3 :) :)

    22. What can I say? This was one of the best books I have ever read. It had it all: adventure, romance and a beautiful and encouraging description of how God cares about us. It was uplifting and exciting, I couldn´t put it down! I recommend it warmly :)

    23. It is a sweet love story which has unique story plots to it which captures one's attention. I can feel the breezes of this story from the island it is told from most of the time. Will the four people who have longed to be with one another finally embrace the day with rejoicing for all the days ahead together or will it be too difficult to make their dreams a reality? I hope you enjoy the book also.

    24. Redemption I loved it and was sad when it ended! I'd fallen in love with the characters and their unfolding growth and development through the story!! I cannot wait to find out more in the sequel!

    25. Awesome readIt has been a long time since I have read a Christian fiction with the depth of story that I found here. There was, romance ,suspense, and some excitement thrown in. Absolutely no bad language or inappropriate love scenes. That is why I say that it is awesome.

    26. There's leftist rescues!I enjoyed this book.d on Key West pre-Civil war times, it includes everything from pirate history, shipwrecks, to arranged marriages, and escaping slaves.

    27. Squeaky cleanTook me a while to get in to it. But it was an enjoyable read once I did. I was a bit concerned when the word desire appeared in the book, but it was fine.

    28. History has always fascinated me, certain periods more than others, but I love it when a book takes a slightly different tack and changes things up from what might be the typical genre formulation. The plot of a Southern belle struggling against expectations may not be new (Gone With the Wind, anyone?) but the Key West location is different, as is the hero’s occupation of a wrecker. The storyline is fantastic and I immediately engaged with the well-rounded characters and setting, enjoying this [...]

    29. Kindle freebie. 1.5 stars, rounded up. The writing and plot just didn't hold together well for me. Loose ends dropped, intrigue going nowhere
