    1. I'd no more feel qualified to "review" Herrick than I would George Herbert, that other Anglican Priest/Poet. I've always thought it the most wonderful coincidence that two of the best English poets, one devoted to the pleasures of the world, the other the single most moving religious lyric poet in English, were both priests. As for Herrick, all I have to do to make myself happy is to read "Corinna's Going A'Maying" aloud. For those unfamiliar with it, here it is complete:CORINNA'S GOING A-MAYING [...]

    2. I loved it. He speaks so plainly. I adore the imagery. This isn't the exact book I read, the book I read also included the poetry of John Donne. Their styles are so different, it was interesting to see their works on love side by side and to compare them. But you can do the same thing by checking out each writer's works seperately.

    3. I do not recall the last occasion I had such an exquisite experience reading poetry."In sober mornings,Do not thou rehearseThe holy incantation,Of a verse; But when that men have both well drunk, and fed,Let my enchantments then be sung or read."Cheers!

    4. When it comes to the short form, even Shakespeare cannot better Robert Herrick. The complete poetry is a work of transcendent jawdropping beauty.
