    2. I can't even summon a snarky comment. That's how boring it is. Fuck this book. It robbed me of snark. Therefore, I must DNF.I wonder if the people from two centuries ago would feel the same way about HRs as I do about New Adult books. There they were, living their lives at balls and morning teas and shit, paving the way for the future, and they had no idea that their generation would be portrayed as a bunch of overly talkative and shallow assholes banging in carriages and making love way more com [...]

“Ayrıca i [...]

    4. I can't believe I took so long to finally read the 2nd book of The Last Man Standing series. I really enjoyed this book! Felicity made a wish that she'd meet her future husband, a man who would give her adventure instead of living a dull married life. Her wish came true when Nigel Cavendish climbed up her balcony. From that moment on she knew she wanted Nigel as her husband but how could she make this man her husband when he was so opposed to the idea of marriage? Nigel was mesmerized by Felicit [...]

    5. gamzeninkitapdunyasi. Last Man Standing serisinin ikinci kitabı da serinin okuduğum Sonunda Bende Sevdim kitabı kadar keyifliydi.

    6. Second book in Victoria Alexander's Last Man Standing series.Again, I was impressed! The plot was very convincing, I thought, despite the 43 million references to "fate". It was definitely the MOST well-written we-fell-in-love-because-it-was-written-in-the-stars type of book I've ever read!Anyway, so the Lady Felicity Melville is a 23-year-old woman who's about the enter her 5th season. She took the last year off to tour Europe and such (Sounds good to me! Where do I sign up?) Anyway, she WANTS [...]

    7. So I had the last 2 books on my shelf, had to get 1 ans 2. Must read books in order. Found number 1 in the library, and ordered #2 from and waited and waited!! Received and read today. Am really enjoying this series!!What I liked. The heroine Felicity was 23, practically on the shelf! She was waiting for the right man. An amatuer astronemer, she was looking through a spyglass and saw a man climbing over her fence. She had just wished on a star and a man drops into her garden. It is fate. Nigel [...]

    8. I thought this book was fun and sweet, the characters and situations were engaging. Victoria Alexander always brings charm and wit to her novels.

    9. I sometimes hesitate to rate a frothy romance novel 4 stars, but this one is an exception, because it was hilarious. Had me chuckling from beginning to end. The characters were lovable, and really mucked things up, just like real people. However unreal these romance endings are, it’s good to wish real life actually worked out that way.

    11. This book was the whole package. I loved the plot, character development and dialogue. This is one where the authors writing style really seems to shine. I found it to be a unique and entertaining read.

    12. This is apparently the 2nd out a series of four (?) books about young men determined not to marry. They have some sort of bet between the four of them as to whom will marry last. I did not read the first book, but after reading this one will certainly go out and find it!Felicity Melville is a young woman of good family, she has been "out" in society for 7 seasons, which is apparently a lot, but has no desire to "catch a suitable husband"; she wants to marry for love. Astronomy is her hobby, and [...]

    13. boring.ring. The dialogue was too long and uninteresting. I skipped a few pages because I wanted to pull my hair out. First time reading a book from author and it is the last.

    14. The second in this series about a group of men who put together a tontine, each man putting in one pound with the pot going to the last unmarried man. As usual, many characters from other Alexander books appear in this novel.Nigel Cavendish wants to get married some day but not in the near future. He is spending his days bed-hopping, but only with married or widowed women, all of who know the score. But one night, an irate husband tries to take a shot at him and Nigel escapes over the wall to th [...]

    15. Nigel Cavendish and Felicity Melville: Felicity is an amateur astronomer who has been out for a number of seasons. She wishes to marry for love and has no urgency to do so until then. She sees him one evening while she is out in the balcony praying for a man…he is trying to escape from a neighbor’s window as he’s a rogue and likes to pass the time with married women and widows. She finds out who he is and is determined that he is the one who will marry her. However, she will not trap him.T [...]

    16. Nigel Cavendish is one of four men who have a wager for who can avoid marriage the longest. If it were a wager for who wanted to avoid it the most, Nigel would win. He's escaping from a rendezvous with a married woman when he encounters Felicity, who has just made a wish on a star for a man with whom she can have an adventurous marriage. And there he is. Wish granted, right? Yeah, not so much. Felicity has to convince him and Nigel just wants to get rid of her because he's not ready to get marri [...]

    17. One bachelor down . . . three more to go. Four most desirable gentlemen have wagered one shilling apiece and a bottle of cognac that will go to the last unmarried man standing . . .Nigel Cavendish knows he'll marry one day, but hopefully that day is many years--and many women--in the future! Until then, the handsome, unrepentant rake intends to enjoy life's pleasures to the fullest! From the moment Lady Felicity Melville spies the adventurous scoundrel climbing from a neighbor's window--with his [...]

    18. Nigel Cavendish escapes out a window when his lover's husband returns and ends up climbing up into the bedroom of Felicity Melville, who decides he's the man for her; she talks to his sister about how to get Nigel to want to marry her, and they have Felicity wherever Nigel goes, but he finally learns of their scheme and feels he's being forced into his growing feelings for Felicity and so doesn't want to marry her. But just when Felicity lets him go, they are forced to wed.I had mixed feelings a [...]

    19. They are down to three men standing now.OliverNigel& Daniel.Nigel Cavendish is known for his scandalous behavior, married women, widows, anyone but those newly turned out virgins. Felicity Melville was star gazing and wishing upon a star for an adventurous man to marry. At 23 she was on her 5th season, as she missed last season by going on a grand tour. Suddenly there was a dog barking and yelling and a gun shot. She watched as a man shimmied down from the balcony of the house next door and [...]

    21. One of the funniest books that I have read if not ever then in a long time. Felicity is looking towards marriage but none of the men in her acquaintance stir the least bit of interest in her, they all seem quite dull and not a bit interesting. Until she meets Nigel Cavendish as he flees the irate husband of her next door neighbor. With in moments she decides that he is the one for her, unfortunately Nigel happens to be the least marriage minded man in all of England; to the point that he seems q [...]

    22. 3.5* rounded up to 4* for .An implausible but nonetheless entertaining romance. It was refreshing to read an historical romance about an intelligent young lady using her brain and her wit to "catch" her man. The writing was often humorous and both main characters well-drawn and likeable. The cast of secondary characters was also entertaining. The story falters a little when the author has Felicity acting inconsistently. Toward the end, Felicity makes a decision about her life, then when confront [...]

    23. I enjoyed the love story between Felicity and Nigel, especially with their banter and Felicity's strong comeback that had me cheering her along as she argued back with Nigel, especially when he declared himself an unchanged man and her conclusion to run to Maddy and thus nigel's jealousy. Along with their normal conversations as Nigel is such a charming and rake with his eloquence when they were at parties and the scene where he asked to dance with Felicity while they waited to tell the guests a [...]

    24. These are light reading for me. Lots of flirting, lustful advances that cannot be fulfilled. They are not to be considered the next Great Expectations. I love these, when I am tired of murder, mayhem, and drama. To much reality reading. can be depressing, so I switch it up. This book features a very smart heroine, who refuses to be married, and set aside. She wants adventure, and an equal. That is why Felicity is still on the shelf at twenty three. Nigel is a rake of the first order. He gambles, [...]

    25. Okay, this may not be the best romance ever, but it was chock full of a fun take on the regency tropes. Our heroine is, of course, a virgin trying to find a husband during the London Season. It's her 6th Season, and she's totally bored by the concept. Also, she sets her cap for the rake who is determined never to marry. Ever. He sleeps with plenty of women, but he's never hurt a young virgin's reputation; he only sleeps with married women and widows. His particular form of honor won't let him hu [...]

    26. I like Victoria Alexander as an author. She has a clean writing style. Her plots are well-constructed, her dialogue is always well-done and she knows her time period and history. Here's the problem I have with this book. I simply never liked Felicity. My sympathy was always with Nigel. Yes, he had a lot of control over his own behavior and the scene in which they find themselves in the middle of the book is mostly his fault, but I can't abide a heroine who picks her hero for no apparent reason, p [...]

    27. London. April 1854. "Of the three remaining members of the tontine" for four shillings and a bottle of Cognac Hon. "Nigel Cavendish" 30 p 56 "was the one among them most prone to scandalous behavior" p 3 with willing wives and widows. Lady Felicity Melville 23 p 7 wishes on a star for "a future that's not staid and boring and ordinary. I want a man who will make the rest of my days an adventure. The grandest of adventures" p 12. "Eugenia Wentwhistle, Lady Kilbourne now," her "dearest friend" p 1 [...]
