Workshop - 28 November 2014

“Successful coping strategies for parents and carers of children with special needs”.

With Laura Kerbey

Laura is experienced in supporting families and young people with physical disabilities, Asperger’s Syndrome, high functioning autism, ADHD and a range of challenging behaviours.

Laura is particularly passionate about the fact that young people with autism have so much to offer and yet are often failed by the education system because staff don’t have the right skills and experience. This leads to additional stress on parents, carers and the whole family.

In this session she will share her experience as a trainer with a focus on dealing with a young person’s anxiety and low self-esteem. This will include a chance to find out more about broad coping strategies that she has used successfully with the parents she supports through her work at PAST – “Positive Autism Support and Training”.

There will be lots of time for questions, meeting other parents and building support groups to help you try out these new strategies.
